A promising application
I see enormous potential in this app, which is unfortunately still far too incomplete. It could become an essential app because it’s very easy to use and runs very smoothly.
Its strengths: its system for reordering shots and automatic numbering. Its various display options. The ability to import the script to copy and paste descriptions. You can click ‘play’ and it starts playing the storyboard.
Its weaknesses: drawing options are too limited. There are no selection tools to move or copy and paste an element from one panel to another. There are no separate layers for sketching and then colouring it in greyscale, for example. You cannot zoom in or out using your fingers. You cannot highlight text in the script to find your place more easily. You cannot set the duration of each shot precisely; you’re limited to pre-defined durations, and the process is very restrictive. You cannot specify camera movement.

Thanks so much for testing ShotGlide in this much depth, and for your kind words about reordering, numbering, script import and playback. That is exactly the core the app is built around, so it is great to hear you found it smooth and easy to use.
Several of your points are already answered in v2.0, which is landing on the App Store in August:
Shot durations: completely rebuilt in v2.0, with a new timing panel that lets you set any duration per shot, displayed as seconds, seconds + frames, or koma. In the other views, it will be possible to show the timing next to each shot number while you draw, on or off per project.
Selection: a lasso selection tool arrives in v2.0. Draw a loop with your Pencil around any part of a drawing and you can move, scale, rotate or flip just that selection. Copying a selection from one panel to another is not in yet, please post it as a new feature request and other users can vote it up.
Drawing tools: v2.0 adds a solid brush, fully opaque at every size, on top of our existing pencil, pen and marker, each with four thicknesses and a full color picker.
Camera movement: good suggestion. It is already on the feedback board and open for your votes.
Highlighting text in the script is not possible today. If it would help your workflow, please post it as a feature request and other users can vote it up.
On layers and pinch zoom, those are deliberate decisions rather than gaps. ShotGlide isn't meant to replace advanced drawing apps like Procreate. It's a focused storyboarding tool built around speed, shot planning, composition, reordering, playback and export. Every advanced drawing feature adds weight and complexity and moves the app further from the fast, reliable storyboarding workflow it exists for, and Focus Mode uses a fixed drawing scale for the same reason.
I realize that is not the same as editable drawing layers, but you can already import an image as a background underneath your drawing, for reference or layouts. v2.0 also brings a true eraser that no longer wipes the background image, which should make tracing over a reference much easier.
Thanks so much for taking the time to share your feedback. We hope v2.0 brings ShotGlide closer to the workflow you are looking for.
