Importing images

You can import images into your storyboard and use them as reference, background, or to bring in drawings created in other apps.

Import

From the top toolbar, open the Park / Media Bin (next to the Page View button).

Select the Media tab, then:

  • Tap Photos to open your iPad photo library

  • Tap Files to open the file browser

  • Import one image or select several at once

  • Scroll horizontally through the bin to browse your imported images

  • Use the chevrons to quickly jump to the start or end of the bin

Place an image

Drag an image from the Media Bin onto any frame in your storyboard. When you drop it:

  • The image is embedded in the frame and stays attached to it.

  • If the frame already contains a drawing, the image is added as a background beneath existing strokes.

  • To refine image placement, long-press the frame to access transform controls.

Media Bin controls

In the Media Bin toolbar:

  • Photos / Files β€” add images from your iPad

  • Sort β€” change the order of images in the Media Bin (first imported, last imported, A–Z)

  • Select β€” select multiple images

When in Select mode:

  • Tap images to select them

  • Use Select All to select all images

  • Use Delete to remove the selected image(s) from your media bin

Multiple selection

When multiple images are selected, you can drag them into the board in a single action.

Images are placed consecutively, starting from the drop frame and continuing across the following frames. They follow the order shown in the Media Bin, not the selection order. Use Sort to control placement order.

If a target frame already has an image, the new drop will replace it.

This is useful for quickly building a board from existing storyboard frames or reference images.

Batch drop workflow

Images are fitted to the 16:9 guide rectangle per frame. If your images don’t match that format, you may need to adjust each frame individually after drop.

To save time :

  • Prepare your images in a 16:9 format

  • Import them into the Media Bin

  • Select multiple images or use Select All

  • Drag your selection onto the board

Images will be placed consecutively across frames.

Use cases for image import

  • Import drawings from other apps

  • Create boards from photos or AI images

  • Reference image to draw over

  • Background for a shot

Note: Imported images are available across the entire project and can be used in any scene.
