Framing Overlays

Framing overlays draw guide lines on top of your frames to help you compose your shots. They are drawing aids only and never appear in exports.
Open the overlays panel
Tap the Framing Overlays button in the top toolbar, in Board View or Focus Mode. Tap it again, or tap outside the panel, to close it.
Choose your overlays
Each card shows a preview at your project's aspect ratio. Tap a card to turn that overlay on or off:
Action safe — keep important action inside this area
Title safe — keep text and titles inside this area
Center cross — marks the center of the frame
Rule of thirds — divides the frame into thirds
Golden ratio — lines at the golden ratio points
Sixths grid — a finer grid that divides the frame into sixths
Frame lines
Frame lines show how your shot will look cropped to another aspect ratio, such as 2.39. Tap the Frame lines card to turn it on, then pick a ratio. Your project's own ratio is not offered.
Opacity
Use the 25, 50, 75 and 100 buttons at the top left of the panel to choose how strong the overlay lines look. 25% is the default, for light lines that stay out of your way while you draw. Your choice is saved with each project.
Turn all on or off
Use the tick box at the top right of the panel to turn every overlay on or off at once.
Good to know
Nothing is ticked in a new project
Your choices are saved with each project
Overlays are drawn in grey and never appear in PDFs, videos, image sequences or stills
