GHOST INK
Ghost Ink is a second ink built into every frame drawing. Rough out your poses, construction lines, and thinking in Ghost Ink, then draw clean right on top of it — the ghost marks stay visible while you work and vanish from every export, print, and playback. Toggle them off to check your line, back on to find your way again, or clear them entirely once the frame drawing holds up on its own. It’s the blue pencil you never have to erase. My thinking: anyone who storyboards or draws knows that a drawing evolves from a rough form to a refined one. Right now, short of bringing in a guide image, ShotGlide has no good way to support that. Drawing over your own rough and then erasing it is impractical, and the image import workflow — excellent as it is in other situations — feels like a counterintuitive compromise here. Ghost Ink seems like the right solution, and I haven’t seen anything like it in any comparable app. Implementation note: this could work either as a dedicated ghost buffer per frame drawing — much like the image layer that already exists — or as a pixel-level attribute that marks certain pixels as ghost. Both get to the same place. Please consider this.
Select Mode: batch move and duplicate shots, within and across scenes
Select one or more shots, then move or duplicate them anywhere in your scene or into another scene. Delete, clear or park several shots at once.
DRAWING TOOLS individual settings
It would be nice if drawing tools (pencil, pen, marker, etc.) could remember their settings (color, density, etc.) When I storyboard on paper, I have my HB pencil, a black fineliner pen, and a light gray Copic marker out, and though I usually do pencil roughs first, ink lines next. and then some shading, in that general order, I also go back and forth between tasks as the storyboards get fleshed out. I don’t like having to open various palettes to switch colors or density presets. I think each tool should remember how it was set up rather than take on the settings of the previous tool. At least an option for this behavior would be appreciated.
See frame descriptions while drawing
Focus Mode shows the frame's description right under the drawing. Tap it to read the full text, then tap the text to jump straight to that shot in Script View and edit it. In Board View, turn on Show text in Settings to see each frame's description under its panel.
Timeline View with audio
Lay in music, dialogue or sound design on up to six audio tracks and cut your shots to it, with waveforms, markers, snapping and frame-accurate trims. Your track mix carries straight into the animatic export.
Onion skin in Focus Mode
See earlier and later frames as faint ghosts under your drawing, tinted red and green, up to 3 each side with adjustable strength.
ZERO LENGTH SHOTS
It seems that we cannot set shots/frames to zero length (i.e., no time allotted). I often use a second or third frame in the board to describe elements of the shot in more detail (to highlight what particular layers of a comp are doing, for example) and, though I don’t want those to show up in the video animatic, I do want them in the PDF. And I don’t want them influencing overall runtime/ Please give users the ability to set a shot’s length as 0.0 so that the relevant frame will be skipped over during playback but rendered in the PDF. Maybe a way to do this already exists.

OVERLAYS
Frame overlays for: Action Safe Title Safe Center Cross Rule of Thirds Golden Ratio Grid These should be check box controls, NOT mutually exclusive, so that Center Cross can be enabled with Grid, for example. These should be non-printing, non-exporting drawing aids. (Like Ghost Ink 😉) And perhaps a color or 0-100% opacity slider. Note: Action safe: 97%, Title Safe 90%. The grid should be a 6×6 proportional grid (useful for people like me who still remember field charts). For Golden Ratio, φ = 1.618, so 1/φ = 0.618 and the complement is 0.382. The divisions sit at 38.2% and 61.8% of each dimension, measured from either edge — symmetrical, so it doesn't matter which side you measure from. 16:9 example attached.
New aspect ratio options - 2.39, 1.85, 1.66, 4:3, 1.90, 1.43, 1:1, 9:16
In addition to the standard 16:9 frame, choose your project’s aspect ratio upon creation: 2.39, 1.85, 1.66, 4:3, 1.90 (IMAX Digital), 1.43 (IMAX Film), 1:1 and 9:16.
Off-frame drawing area
Let each frame's note area in Script View be used for drawing, not just text. Ideal for adding diagrams, annotations and other off-frame details that live with the frame and export with it.
Automatic scene creation from an imported script
ShotGlide would auto-create scenes named from the script's own headings. Because one film scene can span several headings, the app would show the headings it found and let you tick the ones that are real scene starts before it builds them.
Brush Types & Color Picker
Additional brush styles (Pen, Marker, Pencil) and a color picker to help differentiate elements within your storyboard frames.
Transparent PNG export
Export any frame, or a whole scene as an image sequence, as a PNG with an alpha channel. Strokes only, no background, ready to composite over plates or previz.
Per-Shot Timing & Frame Rates
Set your project's frame rate (24/25/30) and display shot durations in seconds, seconds+frames, or seconds+koma (used in Japanese animation production). Optional timing pills show durations right next to the shot number.
Background image opacity control
Ability to adjust the opacity of imported background images: per frame in the editor, or applied to a batch selection before dropping from the Media Bin.
Lock or assign shot numbers
Option to lock any or all shot numbers, so insertions and deletions don't disturb existing panels, or assign your own arbitrary number or text label to any panel. Currently numbers are automatic by board order.
Export storyboard playback as a video file
Add the ability to export storyboard playback as a video file, so users can share their boards as an animatic outside ShotGlide. Since ShotGlide already supports per-frame timing for playback, this would let users turn that timed sequence into a video.
